How would you introduce yourself to people who are unaware of you?

Hi, my name is Sunhee Park, but most people call me Sunny. I’m the founder of SUNNYBROW Beauty Studio and Academy based in Los Angeles. I’m also a wife and a proud mother of two daughters.

Rather than staying in one place, I love learning and growing continuously. Helping clients find comfort and joy in their daily routines—through natural, personalized beauty—is something I find deeply meaningful. To me, enhancing someone’s natural features and boosting their confidence in subtle but powerful ways is what makes my work so special.

You’re Founder of SUNNYBROW Beauty Studio. When did you decide to create/ open your studio? What do you see as the makeup trends for 2025 and within the next year?

I began my PMU career in Korea in 2008. After immigrating to the U.S. with my family in 2016, I opened SUNNYBROW in 2017—starting from a very small studio. Four years ago, I was fortunate to expand into a larger space as my business grew.

In 2025, I see a growing demand for natural yet refined results. Nano Brows, soft Lip Blush, and subtle Eyeliner are leading the trend. Above all, I believe that great PMU is about discovering and enhancing the beauty a client already has—not transforming them into someone else. As the industry becomes more mainstream, client expectations are rising, and techniques are evolving quickly. More people now seek effortless, polished looks that blend into their everyday lifestyle.

I know from personal experience how detailed & instant confident booster you give your clients! What is your favorite procedure you do and why? What do you recommend for people who are afraid of permanent makeup?

Brows are definitely my favorite procedure. They play such a key role in defining the face, and adjusting the brow shape can completely change a person’s overall impression—which I find so fascinating.

Lately, I’ve been especially passionate about Nano Brows. While Microblading has been popular for years, it has limitations with certain skin types and may cause skin damage. Nano Brows go beyond those limitations—they’re gentler on the skin and allow for highly precise, artistic results. As an artist, that versatility is incredibly exciting.

For anyone hesitant about permanent makeup, I recommend doing thorough research, comparing artists’ work, and having an in-person consultation. Since the results last 2–3 years, it’s important to make a careful, informed decision. But once you find the right artist, PMU can truly be a game-changer in your daily life.

What are your tips for healthy mindset?

There were times when I felt stuck—like I had so many goals but progress felt painfully slow. But what I’ve learned is that everything happens in its own time. What matters is focusing on what you can do right now, so when the right moment comes, you’re ready for it.

Small setbacks have taught me the most. When things don’t go as planned, I try not to feel defeated. Instead, I reflect on what went wrong, learn from it, and move forward with hope. Even when it feels like I’m moving slowly, I look back and realize how far I’ve come. That perspective helps me stay grateful. And I believe surrounding yourself with warm, honest people is key to staying grounded.

You also have your Academy!! Why do you love teaching? How did you start your academy?

About five years ago, a friend working in the beauty industry asked me to train her. Although I had taught back in Korea, I felt I was still establishing myself in the U.S. and wasn’t planning to start teaching yet. But she was eager to learn from me, and that moment led me back into education. Today, she’s a skilled artist, and witnessing her growth reminded me why I love teaching so much.

Helping someone change careers, grow their confidence, and develop into a great artist is incredibly meaningful. PMU is much deeper than it looks—it requires precision, understanding, and responsibility. I’ve seen the impact of poor training, and that’s why I take education seriously.

In my academy, I teach more than just technique. I emphasize mindset, professionalism, client care, and the real-world skills needed to start a business. Because the more skilled and ethical artists we have, the more positively our industry will be valued.

I personally love the natural yet enhanced look and you’re a MASTER at that. Why do you think a subtle yet enhanced look has started to gain popularity in 2025?

Bold, trend-driven looks can be fun, but they often fade quickly. In contrast, the natural yet enhanced style has timeless appeal—it doesn’t get old, and it integrates beautifully into everyday life.

In PMU, clients increasingly want results that make them look naturally refreshed without drawing obvious attention. They love hearing, “You look great—but I can’t quite tell what changed.” A clean, polished base that enhances their features while leaving room for personal styling on special occasions—that’s what makes subtle beauty so powerful and popular right now.

No one has a smooth journey. What was the most pivotal part in your journey? Did you ever feel like quitting?

There were two major turning points in my life.

The first was when I had to give up on my dream of becoming a furniture designer. I had been preparing for art school, but due to my father’s business hardship, I had to let go of that dream. I was heartbroken and lost for a long time. I still remember one moment clearly—I saw a group of friends from my art prep days walking ahead of me, now art students, and I hid in an alley because I felt like I didn’t belong anywhere. My self-esteem was low, and I had lost hope.

Then one of those friends encouraged me to explore the beauty field. She saw something in me that I couldn’t yet see in myself. That one suggestion changed everything. I found a new path, and for the first time in a while, I felt hopeful. That sense of lack became my motivation—it pushed me to keep setting goals and moving forward.

The second turning point was when I moved to the U.S. nine years ago. I had spent nearly three years as a full-time mom and was longing to work again. Starting over in a new country was intimidating—new culture, language barriers, and an unfamiliar market. But I had a goal, and I filled in the gaps step by step, even when progress was slow.

To this day, I continue setting goals—big and small—and walking toward them at my own pace. I’ve never once wanted to quit. Every challenge made me stronger. I truly believe those experiences shaped who I am today.

What are your 3 staples of clothing that make you feel your most confident?

My number one go-to is black scrubs. I wear them every time I work with clients, and as soon as I put them on, I feel focused and ready. It’s like my work uniform—it helps me feel grounded and confident in what I do.

Outside the studio, I like to keep it casual but put-together. I often wear a loose-fit blazer over a good-quality T-shirt, paired with jeans that fit me just right. It’s simple, comfortable, and makes me feel like myself wherever I go.

You do both men and women! Do you think the stigma of men getting treatments is starting to fade? How do you recommend a new client to prepare?

Yes, absolutely. The stigma is fading, and I love that more men are embracing self-care—not just for appearance but also for their own confidence and satisfaction.

With PMU technology advancing, results are more natural and less noticeable than ever. That’s why male clients are feeling more comfortable seeking treatment.

For first-timers, I recommend bringing inspiration photos or examples of the look you want. It helps guide the consultation and ensure we’re aligned. And most importantly, come with an open mind. Ask any questions you have—I’m here to walk you through it all.

What are some of the most rewarding parts of your job?

The most rewarding moment is when a client looks in the mirror and says, “This is exactly what I wanted.” Seeing their happiness and renewed confidence from just a small enhancement—there’s no better feeling.

Also, when I see clients return to me year after year, continuing to place their trust in me, I feel immense gratitude. Those long-term relationships are one of the most meaningful parts of what I do.

last & most fun question! What is your favorite way to unwind!

Spending a relaxed weekend with my family is the best way for me to recharge. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy—just enjoying slow, quality time together and ending the day with a nice meal. Those simple moments bring me the most peace and happiness.
