In this Conversating with Yhorlife we got to conversate with Founder of Dr. S Dentistry - Dr. S! I’m SUPER excited for this Conversating because Dr. S is not only my buddy & dentist but a Dental Genius! I’m not just saying that because he’s my buddy (I wasn’t 100% convinced he was actually good at his job the 1st visit lol) . He is excellent at his craft & honest and keeps my smile looking great. How would you introduce yourself to people who are unaware of you?
Honestly, I never start off a question about what I do for work/career. Unless asked, you'll never hear me say "I'm a dentist". I prefer talking about my hobbies & family/friends.
What separates your practice/ style of dentistry from other Dentists?
I think you'll see an informal, unique approach to our patients. Tlike to speak to them and connect to them on a personal level, again, learning about them and their families... the dentistry will come naturally. I'm proud to say we are one big, happy family... and you feel that from the moment you walk in.
Why did you select to specialize in Dentistry? Did you always know you’d be a Dentist?
You could say I followed in my parents' footsteps. I watched them doing it growing up, thought to myself.... This seems easy, I'll do it. Boy, was I wrong!
What are your tips for a healthy mouth (teeth & gums)?
Take care of them, the same way you do your nails & hair & shoes... keep them clean. And pay me a visit a few times per year!
What medical challenges do you see in dentistry that are on the rise? What can we do to improve our daily habits?
I think the massive amounts of sugar in our diets that are commercialized: "coffee drinks, snacks, etc." and the unfortunate cost of dental treatment make it difficult to keep under control. The lack of insurance coverage doesn't help either!
What are your 3 staples of clothing that make you feel yhor most confident?
A nice fitting tshirt... to show off my physique!

What do you recommend for people to do to get stronger and whiter teeth?
What are some of the most rewarding parts of your job
My most rewarding experience are with those patients who have come from extremely difficult backgrounds (poverty, drugs, etc.) and have somehow come clean or managed a way to get treatment, and I give them their confidence back with a new smile. Seems like they're the most appreciative of all my patients.
