BEAUTY SPOTLIGHT: FACE MASSAGES… HANDS VS. TOOLS
It is known that I believe in aging gracefully. That has to encompass good skin health which is external and internal , and a good skincare regimen. The same way I exercise for my physical health I believe we need to exercise our face to maintain youthfulness. I think the biggest debate, just like in physical fitness, is to do facial massages with hands or with tools! I’ve dived deep into one of the biggest debates and the results that I’ve seen. The beauty is, you can never go wrong…
Okay … I have invested quite a bit of money on facial massage gadgets. With the goal to see, and feel a difference in the health of my face, and my complexion.
I have talked to different facial massage therapists. They took me through different routines using my hands as well as certain facial tools to achieve my goals for my complexion.
I did start the different routines, and I know the best outcomes come from consistency of doing them; to be able to be fair about the effectiveness of the treatments.
I first started with facial massages using my hands. I don’t know if it’s because those particular routines didn’t work for me, or I was too impatient and wanted to see that change …. Like immediately.
Next I moved onto many facial massage gadgets that were ranked as the top on the market.
When I didn’t see those desired results quickly, I was off to try other facial devices. Thinking that each different device could work deeper, stronger, and faster to get my face where I wanted it - tight and right.
What drew me back to doing my facial massages with my own hands every morning was simply the health benefits. I’m hooked now on how doing the massages makes me feel, and the science behind the techniques.
Also what started to really concern me was to witness the faces of folks that have used Fillers, and Botox, to get fast results. Yes, folks that I have seen looking so tight and right, are now looking old, from collapsed muscles, and broken from literally too much work being done to maintain their looks, or to keep getting their face more tight.
With hand face massages you can see and feel the results - from improved circulation, much firmer skin, facial muscles more relaxed, and less sore in those tension facial areas. All of this combined my skin has a healthy glow.
So when the facial massages are done regularly your overall skin health improves. You have also established a wonderful connection with you, your body, which for me is just the best - then the results are the cherry on top.
I started thinking of my hand facial massages as a part of my daily workouts. I give myself about five to eight minutes in the morning to do my massages - and that time is for me, and what I do for me.
When I decided to commit to this natural healthy method I started my search for guidance. YouTube of course is full of various masseuses with various modalities, and philosophies. Select the one that resonates with you.
One that I selected was Inge Theron, the FaceGym founder. I loved her energy and philosophy. She states that when we do the facial massages it boosts the oxygen to our face, which results in more glowy skin. Theron also states that it boots the natural skin function, increases circulation, and our lymphatic system.
So, you will get firmer skin, more toned muscles, and a more radiant complexion. I have found that even my skin products penetrate deeper.
What got me committed to my daily face exercise routine was when I read how doing it also increases collagen production.
I had been addressing increasing my collagen production through my supplements, now coupled with my massages I am beyond pleased at the results.
I’m not saying that I have put away my face gadgets … nope. I incorporate both modalities, I just no longer skimp with my hands on my face - that connection will be forever.
The face massage tools do have benefits as well. They provide improved circulation, and temporary skin tightening by reducing fluid buildup. As well they increase blood flow, lymphatic drainage, and muscle relaxation.
I will always do my face massages, and believing in the value of using your own hands to massage your face. Just like with your daily movement for your body… this is the daily movement for your face. And with yes, consistency, you will see the amazing results - and will never stop.
So let me know which one you prefer….
